Ethereum Accused of Copying Cardano's EUTXO Model Without Credit

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has accused Ethereum developers of copying its Extended UTXO (EUTXO) model without giving credit. The criticism follows a proposal by Ethereum Foundation developer Toni Wahrstätter to introduce native UTXO-style payments on the network.

Hoskinson argued that Cardano's EUTXO model is one of the biggest innovations in smart contract design and has been years in development. He claimed that it's 'literally a crime in the Ethereum inner circles' to mention Cardano, implying that its contributions are being ignored.

The proposal by Wahrstätter suggests making payment transactions 'one-shot objects' instead of permanent state entries, which could reduce Ethereum's permanent state usage by about 99.8% for simple payment transactions. However, Hoskinson believes that this is simply Cardano's EUTXO model being replicated without credit.

Hoskinson also predicted that Ethereum will continue to borrow ideas from Cardano, citing examples of technologies such as on-chain governance and treasury systems that it has developed.
