David Sacks Steps Down as Crypto Czar, Joins PCAST Advisory Role
David Sacks, former crypto and AI czar under President Donald Trump's administration, has stepped down from his role after serving a 130-day limit as a special government employee.
Sacks will now take on a new position as co-chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), which was established by Trump through an executive order. The council brings together influential tech leaders, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen.
During his time as czar, Sacks played a key role in shaping policy around AI and crypto, including the signing of an executive order banning central bank digital currency development and the creation of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile.
Sacks expressed confidence that bipartisan support is within reach for federal rules on AI, citing Trump's recently released national AI framework. He hinted at continued involvement in pushing for this legislation.
