Verus Bridge Exploiter Returns Stolen Assets After Settlement Offer

A Verus bridge exploiter has returned a significant portion of the stolen assets after a settlement offer from the project's team. The exploiter, who had drained ETH, USDC, and tBTC from the Verus network on May 18, transferred 4,052.4 ETH to the project's wallet.

The amount returned is approximately $8.5 million, representing 75% of the total stolen assets. The remaining 1,350 ETH, valued at around $2.8 million, has been kept by the attacker as a bounty under the proposed terms.

The Verus team had requested the exploiter to return 75% of the stolen assets within 24 hours, which led to this partial recovery and negotiated settlement. The move aims to mitigate market impact while underscoring persistent bridge security risks in the crypto space.
