CLARITY Act Must Pass Before Another Regulator Cracks Down on Crypto
Rep. Dusty Johnson has warned that Congress must pass the CLARITY Act before another regulator reshapes crypto policy without a clear statute.
In an appearance on Crypto in America, the South Dakota Republican argued that the Senate needs to move quickly on crypto market structure before the legislative calendar closes.
Johnson chairs the House Agriculture subcommittee and is one of the original co-sponsors of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would split authority between the SEC and CFTC and create registration paths for digital commodity platforms.
The Senate timing becomes a main fight, with Johnson saying that the industry should not rely on a lame-duck session after the midterms. He argued that too many major legislative packages will be competing for floor time, making the August recess a practical deadline for getting crypto market structure across the line.
