Manitoba's Crypto Regulation Plans Raise Concerns Among Industry Officials
Manitoba's plans to regulate cryptocurrency operations have sparked concerns among industry officials. Two companies testified before a legislature committee that the proposed regulations would put them out of business.
Gator Mining co-founder Guildo Theriault stated that if the bills become law without changes, his company would go bankrupt. He emphasized that many families would be impacted by this outcome.
Finance Minister Adrien Sala argued that cryptocurrency operations are 'low-value' economic drivers that require significant amounts of electricity to operate. He claimed that they provide very few jobs in relation to their power usage.
