Sui has made significant strides in addressing the need for private transactions on its blockchain, introducing a confidential transfers feature that encrypts transfer amounts and wallet balances while keeping selected details visible.

The feature, now available in public beta on Sui Devnet, utilizes Twisted ElGamal cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs to confirm transaction validity without revealing transfer values. This approach differs from traditional privacy coins like Monero, which aim to conceal senders, receivers, and transaction values entirely.

The confidential transfers feature offers a compromise between privacy and regulatory access, allowing authorized parties to decrypt balances or review transaction amounts under defined policies.
