Glamsterdam Upgrade Reaches Final Development Milestone on Ethereum

Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade has reached its final development milestone, according to Parithosh Jayanthi, a core developer and DevOps engineer at the Ethereum Foundation.

The upgrade, which is expected to launch on the mainnet in H2 2026, is considered the most substantial network modification since the Merge in September 2022. Jayanthi described it as 'probably the largest fork we've had since the Merge.'

Glamsterdam will introduce three core technical implementations: enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation (EIP-7732), Block-level Access Lists (EIP-7928), and gas pricing restructuring.

EIP-7732 embeds block construction directly into Ethereum's base layer protocol, while EIP-7928 allows blocks to declare which account states and smart contract storage they require before execution begins. This will enable faster transaction processing through data preloading.
