Quantum Threat Looms Over Bitcoin and Blockchain Networks

Google's research on quantum computers has raised concerns about their potential impact on blockchain networks and cryptocurrencies. According to the study, a quantum computer could break classical cryptography in as little as 9 minutes, which is faster than the average time it takes for a Bitcoin block to be processed.

The researchers found that a significant reduction in resource requirements would make it easier for quantum computers to crack private keys and compromise blockchain security. This has led them to recommend an immediate migration to post-quantum cryptography, which can provide enhanced security against potential attacks.
