Stablecoins Surpass $325 Billion in Circulating Value
The stablecoin market has experienced significant growth in recent years, with the total value of stablecoins circulating across public blockchains surpassing $325 billion. This represents a tenfold increase from early 2021 levels and marks a new all-time high for this asset class.
According to data from Artemis, the structure underneath the market is more complex than previously thought. The market can be divided into two distinct functions: Ethereum, which holds around 60% of global stablecoin supply at over $180 billion, functions as the institutional settlement layer, with an average transaction size of $45,700.
Tron, on the other hand, holds between $87 billion and $100 billion in supply, mostly in USDT, and its average transaction size is around $6,400. This suggests that Tron is primarily used for commercial and remittance transactions.
