Crypto Hack Losses Decline Sharply in First Half of 2026

Crypto project losses due to hacks have decreased in the first half of 2026. According to Immunefi, crypto projects lost approximately $972 million in H1 2026 due to 207 incidents. This represents a significant drop compared to last year.

The number of attacks has reached a record high, but the damage per hack is declining, according to experts. The main risks have shifted from smart contract vulnerabilities to infrastructure failures, private key compromises, and cross-chain configuration errors.

The losses in DeFi fell by 74% from the 2022 peak, from $2.62 billion to $680.3 million. This reduction is attributed to bug bounties, audits, and an increasing number of specialists.
