Ireland's Notorious Bitcoin Holder Makes Move After Decade of Silence
A large sum of Bitcoin linked to an Irish drug dealer has been deposited into Coinbase after a decade of dormancy. The 500 BTC, valued at approximately $30.76 million, was transferred to the US cryptocurrency exchange roughly 40 minutes ago. This movement is significant because deposits to exchanges are often seen as a precursor to selling.
The wallet associated with Clifton Collins still holds 4,500 BTC, worth an estimated $277.17 million at current market prices. Collins was convicted for drug trafficking offenses and has been under scrutiny by blockchain analytics firms and law enforcement.
The deposit has raised questions about the disposition of assets tied to criminal convictions and may attract interest from Irish authorities and international agencies.
