Fairshake-Backed PAC Spends Over Half Million in Support of Republican Representative
A recent filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) reveals that Defend American Jobs, a cryptocurrency-backed political action committee affiliated with Fairshake, has spent over $514,000 on media in support of James Baird's re-election bid in Indiana's 4th Congressional District. This latest expenditure brings the total amount spent by Fairshake and its affiliates to millions, with the organization expected to continue backing candidates it considers 'pro-crypto' throughout the US midterm elections.
Baird, a Republican House member since January 2019, has a history of supporting cryptocurrency-related legislation, including the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act. The latter bill, aimed at creating digital asset market structure, has been stalled in the Senate for months but may be progressing after lawmakers announced a compromise last week.
The Defend American Jobs PAC is expected to spend millions more in support of candidates it deems favorable to cryptocurrency, with Fairshake reporting $193 million in its coffers as of January. The organization's efforts come as all 435 seats in the US House of Representatives and 33 Senate seats are up for grabs in this year's midterm elections.
