South Korean Bank Partners with Ripple for Cross-Border Remittance Test
KBank, an internet-only bank in South Korea, has announced a strategic partnership with Ripple to test cross-border remittances using XRP.
The two companies have already completed Phase 1 of the proof-of-concept, verifying a wallet app-based remittance system. Phase 2 is currently underway, testing on-chain transfers between South Korea, the UAE, and Thailand using Ripple's Palisade SaaS wallet.
KBank's partnership with Ripple marks a significant milestone for XRP, which has been struggling to gain mainstream adoption. The deal highlights the growing interest in blockchain technology among financial institutions, particularly in Asia.
