Kraken Sees World Cup Debut Amid England's Group Stage Struggles
FIFA's partnership with Kraken is getting its biggest stage yet during the 2026 World Cup group stages. The tournament, which is being held in the US, Mexico, and Canada, has seen England struggle to find their footing after drawing against Ghana on June 23. Despite dominating possession, England failed to register a single shot on target in the first half.
For the fourth consecutive World Cup, England has drawn their second group game, leaving pundits frustrated but urging patience with Thomas Tuchel's squad. Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson called it a 'back to reality' moment for England, although he urged fans not to panic just yet.
The partnership between FIFA and Kraken is significant as it marks the first time a crypto exchange has been integrated into the official sponsorship tier of a World Cup. This means that Kraken's brand will be exposed to billions of viewers across dozens of markets. England, however, does not have an official fan token on the Chiliz platform, which powers tokens for clubs like Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
