FIFA World Cup Smashes Attendance Records Without Crypto's Help

The 2026 FIFA World Cup shattered attendance records by drawing 6.7 million spectators across its expanded 48-team tournament, more than doubling the previous all-time record of around 3.59 million set during the 1994 edition.

Co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, the tournament saw cumulative group stage attendance hit 3,605,357 on June 25, surpassing the 1994 total before the knockout rounds had even started.

The final tally landed at 6,730,303, with figures reportedly exceeding 6.8 million by mid-to-late July as the tournament reached its conclusion.

Despite the record-breaking attendance, there was no meaningful integration with digital assets or blockchain technology, in stark contrast to previous years when fan tokens and NFT ticketing initiatives were all the rage.
