Tether Invests Heavily in Brazilian Crypto Platform Mercado Bitcoin

Tether has made a significant move into Latin American crypto infrastructure by investing $20 million in Mercado Bitcoin, a regulated Brazilian on-chain financial services platform.

Mercado Bitcoin boasts an impressive user base of 4.5 million and over R$2 billion in tokenized assets issued, with more than 10 regulatory licenses spanning Brazil and Europe.

The investment will fuel Mercado Bitcoin's expansion into payments, tokenized investment products, lending, on-chain capital markets, and international growth.

Tether's move signals a shift from passive treasury holdings to active infrastructure ownership, blurring the lines between stablecoin issuance and platform development.
