Meta's USDC Payout Pilot Aims to Capture Billions in Creator Revenue

Meta's pilot program for USDC payouts to creators has been gaining attention lately. The program, which was launched on April 29, allows eligible creators to receive USDC directly from Meta's creator payout system through compatible crypto wallets on Solana and Polygon.

The choice of Colombia and the Philippines as the initial markets for the pilot is significant, as both countries have meaningful creator economies with real-world friction in cross-border payouts. The use of dollar-stable rails could help to reduce this friction and make it easier for creators to receive payments from Meta.

According to a report by Goldman Sachs, the creator economy is projected to reach $480 billion by 2027, with brand deals accounting for about 70% of creators' revenue. This means that there is significant potential for stablecoins to capture a portion of this market.
