Bitcoin Network Faces Potential Hard Fork with BIP-110 Proposal
The Bitcoin network is facing another potential hard fork, this time due to the BIP-110 proposal. This proposal aims to remove ordinals and NFTs from the network, citing them as spam that harms the payment-focused mission of Bitcoin.
BIP-110 supporters believe that the network should only be used for payments, and not for carrying other types of data. However, they are in a minority, with over 67% of Bitcoin traffic still tied to ordinals and runes.
The BIP-110 proposal has an activation date set for early August, at block height 961,632. If it passes, the network may split into two versions: one carrying ordinals, and another without them.
