Bitwise Updates Crypto Index Fund, Drops DOT and AVAX for HYPE and XLM
Bitwise, a leading cryptocurrency sector company, has made significant changes to its funding. The company has added two new altcoins, Hyperliquid ($HYPE) and Stellar ($XLM), to its Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF (BITW). This is part of the recent shift in institutional investors' preferences for digital assets.
In a notable move, Hyperliquid was added to the index after delivering strong performance in the first half of 2026. The asset achieved $1.34 trillion in transaction volume and $320 million in protocol revenue during this period. Additionally, it gained approximately 165% in value and entered the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
Polkadot (DOT) and Avalanche (AVAX) were removed from the index due to failing to meet the required criteria of market capitalization and index weighting. Despite these changes, Bitcoin remains the ETF's largest asset with a portfolio weighting of 77.54%, followed closely by Ethereum at 13.04%.
The addition of Hyperliquid has been seen as a significant move in the cryptocurrency sector, highlighting the growing interest in new and emerging assets. Bitwise's decision to rebalance its index is part of its ongoing effort to reflect changing investor preferences and market trends.
