Kidnapping Attempt Foiled in France as Crypto-Linked Attacks Continue
A failed kidnapping attempt was made against the wife of The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget in Villenoy, France. According to reports, a group of hooded suspects attempted to abduct her from their home, but were thwarted by neighbors who intervened.
The incident occurred on May 20 at the couple's residence on Rue Sadi-Carnot in Seine-et-Marne. The suspects, who wore balaclavas and carried zip-tie restraints, tried to force Borget's wife into a Citroën C3. However, neighbors heard her cries for help and stepped in, forcing the group to flee.
Police arrested two suspects, Mateo V. (born 2010) and Walid H. (born 2009), both from Pantin in Seine-Saint-Denis. A bag containing a fake handgun, zip-tie restraints, and balaclavas was found at the scene.
French authorities have recorded 41 crypto-linked abductions since January, with concerns growing about physical attacks on individuals linked to cryptocurrencies. The government has implemented emergency protocols and a prevention platform to protect digital asset holders.
