Crypto Surpasses Coffee and Tobacco Manufacturing Jobs
A new report from the National Cryptocurrency Association reveals that the crypto industry now employs more Americans than coffee or tobacco manufacturing industries.
The study, commissioned by the Pragmatic Policy Group, found that in 2026, crypto directly supports 34,000 US jobs and adds $55 billion to the economy.
This puts crypto ahead of other high-paying fields, including information and technology at $104,000 and manufacturing at $76,000. The average crypto-related job pays $133,000 a year, more than double the national median wage of $64,000.
The report also estimates indirect effects, finding that each direct crypto job supports 6 more across the economy. This brings total supported employment to 232,000 jobs in 2026, accounting for direct, indirect, and induced jobs.
