Brazil Cracks Down on Online Betting Ads, Bans Crypto Payments
Brazil's government has introduced strict new rules for online betting companies operating in the country. The regulations, set to take effect in mid-July 2026, require operators to include health warnings about addiction risks and potential financial losses in every ad.
The advertising restrictions apply to both licensed operators and third-party advertisers promoting their services. Every betting advertisement will now need to carry mandatory health warnings, similar to those on cigarette packaging in many countries.
The rules also ban any marketing claim that gambling is a path to 'easy money' or uses expert endorsements to lure bettors. Licensed betting operators are explicitly prohibited from accepting cryptocurrency payments for transactions.
