NC Regulators Take Softer Stance on Crypto Kiosk Rules
The North Carolina House has passed a bill aimed at regulating virtual cryptocurrency kiosks, but it's not as restrictive as initially proposed. Instead of an outright ban, the new regulations would impose daily transaction limits and caps on operator fees.
Under the current version of House Bill 930, new users could make transactions worth up to $2,000 per day, while returning customers would have a limit of $5,000. Additionally, operator fees are capped at 14%.
This is a softer stance than the original proposal from the Finance Committee, which had stricter limits on both transaction amounts and fees. The current version still needs to be approved by the Senate before becoming law.
