BitMine Accelerates Ethereum Accumulation, Nears 5% Supply Target
BitMine, a prominent player in the cryptocurrency space, has made significant strides in accumulating Ethereum (ETH) over the past week. The company acquired 101,745 ETH, boosting its total holdings to 5.18 million ETH and propelling it closer to its ambitious goal of owning 5% of the total supply.
This acquisition is part of a broader strategy that has seen BitMine accumulate more than 5 million ETH within the past 10 months, with approximately 86% of this target already met. The company's approach stands out from typical treasury allocations, where firms often accumulate holdings gradually over longer periods.
BitMine's growing share of Ethereum supply raises questions about concentration within the network. As the largest single entity in the ecosystem, holding more than 4% of total supply, BitMine plays a significant role in network dynamics, influencing governance participation, staking influence, and market liquidity.
