MegaETH Clears First KPI, Paving Way for Native Token Launch
MegaETH, a Layer 2 blockchain built on Ethereum, has cleared its first performance hurdle in preparation for the launch of its native MEGA token. The milestone marks a significant step towards the Token Generation Event (TGE), which is now scheduled for April 30.
The clearing of the first hurdle, known as KPI-2, requires all 10 Mega Mafia applications to be fully deployed on mainnet. These applications include stablecoin payments protocol Cap, DEX Kumbaya, and others. With this milestone achieved, a seven-day countdown has begun, bringing an end to uncertainty surrounding the TGE.
The launch of MEGA will enable market makers and applications to use the token as the bidding currency for MegaETH's proximity markets, where market participants pay to colocate near the sequencer for sub-millisecond latency. The MegaETH Foundation has also committed to using USDM yield to accumulate MEGA tokens through ongoing buybacks.
