BitMEX, one of the pioneers in cryptocurrency derivatives trading, is shutting down operations after its owner and operator HDR Global Trading Limited decided to close the company. The decision comes after a strategic review by the parent company.
The exchange announced that it will stop operating on September 23, 2026, and advised users to close their positions and withdraw their funds during the transition period.
In a statement to its users, BitMEX assured them that their assets remain fully safe and under their control during this time. The company also highlighted its record of no customer funds lost to hacks during its 11-year operation.
