Crypto Influence Spotted in California Congressional Primary

California's 11th Congressional District has seen a significant shift in power as state Senator Scott Wiener took home the Democratic primary seat, beating out former chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Saikat Chakrabarti. The election marks a notable milestone for the district, which had been held by Nancy Pelosi since 1987.

Chakrabarti's campaign was heavily self-funded, with estimates suggesting he spent between $8.8 million and $10 million on his bid to win the seat. Despite being the highest-spending candidate in the race, Chakrabarti finished third with 14.9% of the vote.

The outcome has sparked attention among crypto watchers due to the involvement of Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen's super PAC, Abundant Future. The organization received a $100,000 contribution from Larsen and ran targeted attack ads against Chakrabarti, which some speculate may have swung the election in Wiener's favor.
