Charles Schwab Enters Crypto Market with 'Schwab Crypto' Account Launch
Charles Schwab, a leading financial services company, has taken its first step into the crypto market by opening a waitlist for its 'Schwab Crypto' account.
The new service will enable clients to buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), with an initial small-scale rollout planned for employees and select clients in the first half of 2026.
Notably, Charles Schwab has joined other major financial giants in embracing crypto, following a shift from being a skeptic. The company's CEO, Rick Wurster, announced the move as part of its broader expansion into the digital asset space.
The launch of 'Schwab Crypto' will initially be restricted to certain states and clients, with accounts not insured or available internationally. However, the service is expected to expand more broadly in the future, with Charles Schwab eyeing spot trading and other crypto products.
