Crypto Figures' Dramatic Goodbyes Turned Out to Be an April Fools' Prank
A surprise wave of farewell messages from prominent crypto figures on April 1 sent shockwaves through the community, but it was soon revealed that the posts were part of an elaborate April Fools' prank.
At least five well-known builders and influencers posted dramatic exit statements, criticizing Solana's meme coin culture and ecosystem retention failures. The criticism centered on pump.fun, a launchpad for meme coins, where 99.9% of tokens launched have gone to zero, according to Codex, a Solana developer.
Codex claimed to have built over 50 products on Solana, including the Seedless Wallet, but argued that most users never cared about actual products and were only interested in speculative meme coins.
