Miami IT Specialist Arrested for Alleged $1.9M Bitcoin Heist
A former IT specialist has been arrested for allegedly stealing $1.9 million worth of Bitcoin from his employer.
Nahum Reynaldo Castro, a Miami resident, used his knowledge of the company's hardware wallet's seed phrase to access and transfer funds over a five-year period.
The theft was only discovered in 2025 during a move by the company, when auditors stumbled upon suspicious transactions.
Castro is accused of laundering the stolen Bitcoin through various exchanges and bank accounts, highlighting the challenges of tracking cryptocurrency transactions through financial institutions.
