Ethereum Upgrade Set to Boost Capacity by Over Three Times
Ethereum's upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade is a major development in the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. The upgrade aims to increase Ethereum's gas limit by over three times, from 60 million to nearly 200 million. This significant boost in capacity could lead to Ethereum mainnet gas fees remaining near zero for the next few years, according to Lido advisor Hasu.
The Glamsterdam upgrade includes Execution Layer (EL) gas repricings to better match resource usage at higher throughput. This means that the cost of writing new state will be increased, preventing unbounded state growth and ensuring that the network remains stable even with high throughput.
A recent gathering of Ethereum core contributors in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, resulted in meaningful progress on various topics, including Hegotá features like FOCIL and native account abstraction. The developers were able to deliver three core goals, including an alignment on a post-Glamsterdam gas limit floor of 200 million and stable ePBS implementations running with external builders.
