Clearstream Expands Crypto Custody with Addition of Six New Assets

Clearstream, a major European post-trade services provider and subsidiary of Deutsche Börse Group, has expanded its cryptocurrency custody offerings. The firm now includes XRP, Stellar (XLM), Cardano (ADA), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), and Avalanche (AVAX) in its custody service, alongside Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). This move caters to growing demand for MiCA-compliant digital assets within institutional finance.

Clearstream's initial entry into crypto was announced in early 2025, with the launch of its crypto custody and settlement services made possible through an internal partnership. The firm used Crypto Finance, another entity within Deutsche Börse Group that secured a highly coveted MiCAR license, as its sub-custodian.

The addition of these new assets is seen as Clearstream's doubling down on crypto, with the firm aiming to meet the increasing demand for digital asset custody services among institutional clients. Clients of Clearstream’s International Central Securities Depository (ICSD) can access cryptocurrency custody and settlement using their existing accounts in Clearstream Banking S.A. (Luxembourg).
