Crypto Loses Brightest Minds to AI as Industry Fails to Attract Top Talent
Jeff Yan, co-founder of Hyperliquid, has sounded an alarm about the crypto industry's ability to attract top talent. According to him, many young entrepreneurs are being drawn away from cryptocurrency and fintech by the AI boom and its associated social status.
In a recent conversation on the VALR podcast, Yan emphasized that rebuilding the financial system from first principles offers young founders a chance to solve difficult real-world problems. He argued that this work involves turning academic ideas into market designs that can operate reliably at scale.
On-chain finance is an area where entrepreneurs can help develop new financial systems and market structures, Yan noted. However, he also acknowledged the competition from AI, which has become a magnet for ambitious young developers and founders due to its rapid progress and potential for significant impact.
