Verus Bridge Exploiter Returns $8.5M in Stolen Funds
The recent exploit on the Verus-Ethereum bridge has taken another turn as the attacker returns a significant portion of the stolen funds. According to reports, the exploiter has returned approximately $8.5 million worth of Ethereum to the project's team wallet.
This recovery comes after Verus offered a 1,350 ETH bounty for the return of most of the stolen funds. The project stated that it would treat the retained ETH as a reward if the exploiter returned 4,052.4 ETH within 24 hours.
The return represents about 75% of the stolen funds, with the exploiter retaining $2.8 million worth of Ethereum as a bounty. This development highlights how some crypto projects try to negotiate directly with exploiters to recover stolen funds.
