Coinbase Unveils Mass Layoffs Amid Crypto Market Volatility
Coinbase, a prominent player in the cryptocurrency exchange market, has revealed plans to streamline its operations by reducing its workforce. In a strategic effort to improve efficiency and adapt to changing market conditions, the company will be cutting approximately 14% of its global staff, totaling around 700 jobs.
The decision is part of Coinbase's restructuring plan, aimed at reducing costs and positioning itself for long-term growth. The move comes amidst market volatility in the crypto sector, with many companies in the US navigating similar challenges.
The company expects to incur $50-$60 million in total restructuring expenses, primarily tied to employee severance and termination benefits. Most of these charges will be recognized in the second quarter of 2026.
