Brazil Passes Law to Use Seized Crypto for Public Security
Brazil's government has made a significant move in the fight against organized crime with the passing of a new law. Signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the legislation grants judges the power to freeze, seize, and liquidate digital assets such as Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies linked to serious criminal activity.
The law also allows courts to approve early sales of seized crypto assets if needed. The funds generated from these sales will be allocated towards strengthening public security, funding police operations, and supporting crime-fighting efforts.
