Saylor Slams Bitcoin Proposal as 'More Dangerous Than the Condition'
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, has publicly opposed Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 110 (BIP-110), which aims to restrict arbitrary data storage on the Bitcoin blockchain for one year. He argues that this would compromise the network's permissionless nature and set a censorship precedent.
Saylor published a 3,700-word critique titled '110 reasons BIP-110 is a bad idea' on X, where he shares the concerns of many who support the proposal but believes the cure is worse than the condition. He warns that labeling certain data as 'spam' and blocking it at the protocol level would insert human judgment into what should be neutral rules.
The BIP-110 proposal, introduced by pseudonymous developer Dathon Ohm in December 2025 with backing from Ocean protocol founder Luke Dashjr, aims to stop Ordinals inscriptions and other non-monetary data from occupying blockchain space. Saylor agrees that these goals are important but believes the method is flawed.
