Coinbase Ventures Dominates Crypto VC Landscape with 30 Deals H1 2026
Coinbase Ventures led the pack of crypto-focused venture capital firms in the first half of 2026, according to data from CryptoRank. The firm participated in 30 deals during this period, outpacing runner-up Animoca Brands' 19 investments and a16z's 18 deals.
Over the past year, Coinbase Ventures completed a total of 75 deals, followed by Animoca Brands with 40, YZi Labs (previously Binance Labs) with 39, GSR with 31, and a16z with 30. Despite a bear market that saw crypto VC funding fall to $1.4 billion in June, down 63% from April's $3.8 billion, deal counts also decreased, but showed a slight recovery compared to April.
Coinbase Ventures participated in seven investment rounds tied to payment protocols, four rounds for DeFi projects, and three rounds for infrastructure and real-world asset tokenization projects. The number of unique investors shrunk to 242 in June from 452 in October 2025.
