FIFA Scams Worry Soccer Fans Ahead of 2026 World Cup
Law enforcement agencies in the US, Mexico, and Canada are sounding the alarm about scams targeting soccer fans ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Cybercriminals are creating fake FIFA websites and social media ads that closely mimic legitimate ticketing pages to steal money and personal information from unsuspecting victims.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department warned that scammers are using cryptocurrency payments, which are difficult to reverse, as a major red flag for potential scams. According to the department, crypto theft reached $3.4 billion in 2025.
