Bitcoin Price Surges on Iran Ceasefire Hopes
Bitcoin's price surged by 3% on Monday, reaching its strongest level in over seven days at $69,120. This increase was largely driven by news of potential Iran ceasefire negotiations, which sparked a turnaround in market sentiment after a pessimistic weekend.
The reversal saw short position holders caught off guard, with approximately $200 million in aggregate liquidations within a 24-hour window. Short positions accounted for around 3-to-1 disparity in liquidations, with the most significant individual liquidation involving an ETH-USDT short contract on Binance worth over $10 million.
Major alternative tokens, including Ether, SOL, XRP, and Dogecoin, also experienced gains in tandem with Bitcoin's upward movement. The aggregate cryptocurrency market capitalization crossed back above the $2.5 trillion mark, representing around $70 billion in daily growth.
