Coinbase Expands UK Product Suite with Investment-Service Authorization

Coinbase has secured an investment-services license from Britain's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), allowing it to provide stock and derivatives trading to UK customers for the first time.

The authorization complements Coinbase's current UK e-money license and cryptocurrency registration, which were approved in February 2025. The FCA had previously prohibited selling crypto derivatives to UK retail customers in 2021, but Coinbase methodically pursued the necessary authorizations to offer compliant versions of similar products.

With this new license, British users can now access equity purchasing capabilities on the Coinbase platform, as well as expanded perpetual futures covering cryptocurrency, equity, and commodity markets. US customers have had access to stock and ETF trading through Coinbase since before.
