Cryptocurrency Market Crashes Amid Global Stock Volatility
The cryptocurrency market has been hit hard today, with many major coins experiencing significant losses. Bitcoin was one of the hardest-hit, dropping below $63,000 and registering a 4.63% decline in value. Ethereum and Solana also followed suit, losing 4.71% and 4.54%, respectively.
The global stock market also reacted to the news, with many indices experiencing losses. The Stoxx 600 was down 0.3% by mid-morning, while the CAC 40, FTSE MIB, FTSE 100, DAX, and IBEX 35 all experienced declines ranging from 0.05% to 0.73%.
The market's reaction can be attributed to a combination of factors, including Donald Trump's tariff move and fresh U.S.–Iran tensions. The Dow dropped nearly 822 points on Monday, weighed down by a roughly 13% slide in IBM shares. This has led to renewed fears around AI disruption and pushed the S&P 500 into the red for the year.
