Malaysian Police Crack Down on Human Trafficking Ring, Uncover Bitcoin Mining Operation
Malaysian authorities have dealt a significant blow to human trafficking and cryptocurrency-related crimes in the region.
On April 4, police conducted a series of raids in the Manjung district, detaining 40 undocumented Indonesian migrants and a local woman suspected of helping them enter the country. The operation was sparked by intelligence gathering and public tips about suspicious activities in the area.
The detained individuals are being investigated under Malaysia's Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act, as well as immigration laws.
