Crypto Hacking Losses Dip in June, Humanity Suffers Big Blow
The cryptocurrency industry saw a decrease in hacking losses in June compared to May. According to PeckShield, there were approximately 40 hacking incidents across the crypto space that month, resulting in $75.9 million in losses.
This represents a 7.1% decline from May's total of $81.7 million. The biggest hit came from Humanity (H), which suffered losses of $36 million due to a breach believed to have originated from the exposure of its founder's private key.
The attacker laundered the stolen funds through various assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Solana (SOL), Hyperliquid (HYPE), and BNB Chain. The incident has raised concerns about security in the crypto space, particularly with cumulative hacking losses exceeding $750 million this year.
