Belarus Approves 26 Digital Currencies for Cryptobanks

Belarus has taken a significant step towards embracing digital currencies, approving 26 cryptocurrencies for use by its growing number of cryptobanks.

The list of approved currencies was compiled by the Belarus Hi-Tech Park (HTP), which offers preferential treatment to companies in the crypto space. The HTP's Supervisory Board adopted the regulation recently, making it one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe.

The 26 digital currencies on the list include some of the most popular ones by market capitalization, such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Ripple's XRP. Fiat-pegged stablecoins like Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC are also included.

Some of the more niche cryptocurrencies, such as Toncoin (TON) and Shiba Inu (SHIB), have also been greenlit by the financial authorities in Minsk.
