Coinbase Reorganizes Base Leadership Amid Intensifying Competition

Coinbase has reorganized its Base ecosystem leadership after acknowledging that several early growth initiatives failed to deliver expected results.

Jesse Pollak, who previously led the Base app team, will step away from this role and focus on strengthening the blockchain's core infrastructure.

Pollak acknowledged that Base invested heavily in social products, creator coins, and decentralized social applications during early 2026, but these initiatives struggled to gain lasting traction.

He believes that trading infrastructure, stablecoin payments, and AI-powered financial applications offer stronger long-term growth opportunities as digital assets continue attracting institutional capital.
