UKey Unveils Wearable NFC Ring for Secure Crypto Signing

UKey has unveiled its latest innovation, the Seed Ring, designed to revolutionize crypto backup and recovery. Unlike traditional hardware wallets that often get locked away in a drawer, UKey's wearable ring is meant to be worn daily as an ordinary accessory.

The Seed Ring uses NFC technology to pair with a user's phone, allowing them to sign transactions securely without the need for a separate device. The ring itself has no battery and only draws power when held near an NFC-capable phone.

UKey's approach is to separate signing from backup, making it easier for users to safely store their seed phrase. The Seed Ring holds only the index, order, and checksum data needed for recovery, without storing the full seed phrase in plaintext.

The Seed Ring is just the first product in UKey's Seed series, which also includes a credit-card-sized backup card and a titanium backup ring designed to withstand fire and water. UKey aims to make hardware signing and self-custody more accessible and wearable, rather than treating it as a cold, utilitarian tool.
