Democrats Demand Hearings on Trump Crypto Deal with UAE Investors
A group of U.S. Senate Democrats has sent an open letter to Republican leadership demanding hearings on Trump family crypto project World Liberty Financial's deal with Abu Dhabi-based investment firm.
The deal, worth $500M, saw Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan's investment vehicle acquire 49% of World Liberty Financial in January 2025. Of that amount, $187M went directly to Trump family-controlled entities and at least another $31M went to affiliates of Steve Witkoff's family.
The senators are concerned about the potential influence of this investment on presidential decisions and have asked administration officials to testify under oath about its implications.
