USST Stablecoin Launches on Stellar with Institutional-Grade Liquidity
The STBL protocol has launched the USST stablecoin on the Stellar blockchain network. The institutional-grade crypto asset is backed by tokenized real-world assets (RWA), starting with USDY, a tokenized treasury collateral.
USST is now live on Stellar and allows financial market participants to issue units of the asset by depositing eligible treasury collateral. This process eliminates the need for traditional yield positions to interact with automated on-chain markets.
The technical infrastructure of USST employs the Stablecoin 2.0 architecture, enabling immediate settlement operations, comprehensive mobility of operational collateral, and direct execution of automated cross-border transfers.
The Stellar Development Foundation has partnered with STBL to bring this liquidity instrument to the DeFi ecosystem. The protocol plans to expand the variety of accepted collateral in the short term to incorporate additional RWA providers, including the BENJI token from Franklin Templeton's institutional capital fund.
