Bitmine Accelerates Ethereum Accumulation with Largest Purchase in 2026
Bitmine Immersion Technologies, a prominent player in the world of cryptocurrency, has made significant strides in its Ethereum acquisition efforts. In what appears to be its largest purchase in 2026, the company added 101,627 ETH to its treasury last week.
This move brings Bitmine's total holdings to nearly 5 million ETH, pushing it closer to its ambitious goal of controlling 5% of Ethereum's total supply. According to the company's latest update, Bitmine has now reached about 82% of this target, solidifying its position as one of the largest corporate holders of ether.
Chairman Tom Lee attributed the company's recent buying pace to improving market conditions, citing ether's rebound from February lows and stronger relative performance against equities during a period of geopolitical tension. The latest acquisition was valued at over $230 million at current market levels, further emphasizing Bitmine's commitment to expanding its Ethereum holdings.
Bitmine's update also highlighted the company's growing focus on staking, with over 3.3 million ETH staked through its MAVAN validator network and partner platforms. This represents about 67% of total ether holdings, underscoring the importance of staking as a revenue-generating strategy for the company.
